COLONY Update: June 2026

Hello, everyone! I hope you’ve all been having a wonderful month! Why don’t we cap it off with some cool COLONY dev news, shall we? Let’s get into it!

State of the Game

This month, our playtest at Deuces Wild focused primarily on the newest iteration of the Arak boss, as previous tests proved it not as oppressive or dangerous as we were hoping. This playtest proved to be potentially too powerful in some ways, but much closer to what I envisioned initially, and the only thing that prevented a total party wipe was my pity toward the playtesters. However, having that playtest under the belt now gives me a good path toward balancing it further. It was a short, mostly uneventful, but also very valuable playtest. We also welcomed a newcomer to the table who said he’d like to tag along more often. As always, if you are in the White Mountain area of Arizona, we try to hold a playtest the first Saturday of every month at Deuces Wild in Show Low, and all are welcome to join! Albeit, the first Saturday of July lands on July 4th, so we will likely be skipping this month’s playtest at the store and instead perform some private playtesting.

We are closing in on finalizing this demo update, and as such, are going over and cleaning up all the fine details of this expansion before we let you all play around with it and break it. Whereas last year, we weren’t able to get the demo to you lovely patrons in early release, we’re trying to shoot to give our lovely Hex Heads (patrons at the $10 tier and above) something of a pre-release, but we’ll have more news on that in the future.

Song of Origins

Development on the Song of Origins moves onward with Perp’s artwork moving steadily forward. We are projecting for a release later in the year, likely sometime in the winter. Following the release of Part 3, we have some other ideas we want to flesh out, including a combined version of all three Parts, as well as the complete Song of Origins soundtrack, which may take us some time to put together, but more news on that later.

And that’s all for this month, folks. As always, we hope you’re staying safe and creative. Keep an eye out for some very exciting COLONY news next month!

Cheers,

Isaac Muir

"To each, their own voice, their own hand. To each, their own word, their own mark, their own note. To each, their own vision, their own passion, their own love. To each, a stage, a podium, a wall, on which they graciously display a piece of themselves. For what is art that sits in the dark, unheard, unseen, unread, but an eagle in a cage?"
