COLONY Update: April 2025

An image composed of two overlapping paintings. The words "Colony Update April 2025" are superimposed over the image in large text. One half of the image is a close-up of a fuzzy moth-like character, gently twining a braid in its fingertips. The other half of the image is a large, imposing dead tree, its branches bereft of leaves, with a bright, contrasting river of sap flowing down out of its trunk toward the viewer.

Hello, everyone! Since Muir’s feeling a bit under the weather, this month’s post is coming to you from Hahli - those of you who watch our streams may recognize me, but for those who don’t, I do a little bit of everything around here at Hexahedron. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to this month:

State of the Game

Our current focus as of late has been adding Traits to each entry in the Creature Compendium, determining which cards each Creature is able to use. Although this is not exactly the most exciting part of the process, it has to be done, as we have to ensure that the denizens of Aoiama are well-equipped to stand with or against your Champion characters.

Recently, I’ve been chipping away at the Lin Fora section. In addition to their Iconic capacity to tame Wild Beasts, the Lin have particular strength in numbers - even more so than most other Tribes of Fora. This will be reflected in many of their Trait selections, giving them more opportunities to benefit from being in large groups.

In regards to the game, we’re also working on something a little more substantial to show off later in the year, but for now you’ll have to wait (or if you want a sneak peek, join our Patreon) to find out more…

Song of Origins

As shown on our most recent livestream (if you missed it, check out the link below!), Charles has been hard at work on art for Movement 4. Animation and editing is currently underway for Movements 5 and 6, and overall we’re making steady progress on Part 2.

Additionally, we are thrilled to see that, at the time of this writing, Part 1 of the Song of Origins has received over 1,000 views so far on YouTube! We appreciate everyone who has taken the time to watch it, and we hope that future installments in the Song will delight you just as much.

Live Streams

Due to the holidays and some extenuating circumstances, we only had one live stream this month. We look forward to being back on a more regular schedule next month - see you soon!

That’s just about everything for April! Thanks for taking the time to read this, stay safe out there, and we hope you have a great day.

"To each, their own voice, their own hand. To each, their own word, their own mark, their own note. To each, their own vision, their own passion, their own love. To each, a stage, a podium, a wall, on which they graciously display a piece of themselves. For what is art that sits in the dark, unheard, unseen, unread, but an eagle in a cage?"
