Hello, everyone! Hahli’s writing this month’s post; Muir is still recovering from his illness.
State of the Game
As we continue to work toward the Adventure demo, my focus this month has been on our Creature Compendium, specifically our roster of Sekuta NPCs. I’m pleased to say that as of now, I’ve finished the first pass on all of the basic Sekuta NPC entries; this will enable us to do much more robust playtesting of the Swarm Format than we could before, among other things. A few of those entries will be developed out further for the Adventure demo, but in the interest of keeping some surprises in store, we don’t want to give away too much just yet.
With a baseline established for the Sekuta, the next step will be to iterate upon that to build a template for the Wild Beast statblock. Although they still operate on a card system, they’re not quite the same as Sekuta in terms of all the information that needs to be presented, so their statblock needs to be able to accommodate that in turn.
We’re also periodically running polls over on our Patreon page to let people pick what kinds of creatures they want to see in the patron-exclusive version of the demo! This month, we asked which Wild Beasts NPCs should be included, and next month’s poll will be about the Sekuta. Once each poll has concluded, we take a closer look at the development process for the winning options, so if you’re eager to see just what we’re working on, go check out our Patreon!
(Don't forget: if you need something to tide you over in the meantime, the Arena demo is available here.)
Song of Origins
Charles has been making progress on the art for Movement 7 of the Song of Origins, as shown in the image for this month’s post: now beyond the era of the Tof, the Tera and the Fora go to war. Meanwhile, Nash is still writing the last few parts of Movement 7’s music, and Muir is in the process getting his audio equipment set back up to be able to work on arrangements.
That’s all for this month! Thank you for taking the time to catch up with us, and as the weather takes a turn for the colder in our part of the world, we hope you stay warm and travel safely.
