COLONY Update: July 2026

Hello lovely readers!

Muir here, and I want to preface this month's newsletter by letting you know that I have spent this July feeling very ill, and was not able to accomplish everything I was hoping for this month, but I have done everything in my power to get the essentials completed, so let's get into what has been done.

State of the Game

As you may be aware by now, we are gearing up for a new demo release, and I have spent almost all of my efforts toward finalizing the mechanics in the rulebook, card decks, and other materials. The final piece of this puzzle, the one-shot campaign, has proven to be a challenge, as I am trying to structure it as an onboarding tool to teach both the players and GM about how to play the game, but it must also be a good introduction to the world, as this will be our first official release of a playable narrative.

810NICLE Day and Beyond BIONICLE

I am excited to announce that, like last year, Hexahedron Studios will proudly be hosting Beyond BIONICLE on the upcoming 810NICLE Day broadcast event! Beyond BIONICLE is a showcase of creative projects from members of the BIONICLE community that are *not* about BIONICLE. We are happy to welcome back all our dear friends from years past, Robotrio, Afterman, and the Mythseeker, and are also excited to show off a newcomer to our showcase, Fell Swoop by Dane Braddy!

For our Colony segment, we will be announcing some really cool stuff we've had in the works! The Beyond BIONICLE showcase will broadcast on August 11th, and you can check the schedule (https://810nicleday.com/schedule/) for what time it airs for you! We hope to see you in chat, and we will likely have a watch party in the Hex Studio Community Discord. Can’t wait to show you what's in store!

Song of Origins

For those who may not know, our artist, Charles, is a rather prolific artist in the BIONICLE community, and with 810NICLE Day coming up, he has been in crunch time preparing art pieces for many projects related to the broadcast, so we have only had one art session with him this month, but the result is this stunning piece we've used for the thumbnail this month. We will hopefully see the pace even back out after the chaos of the 810 festivities dies down, and get back on schedule for the Song of Origins!
