Hello, everyone!
It’s been a hugely busy month cramming and prepping for our demo to drop on the 1st! Let’s get into it!
State of the Game & Playtesting
As of this past week, we have finalized all of our demo materials for Song of the Sekuta’s Arena Demo, dropping FOR FREE on September 1st! It includes three print-and-play decks (Het, Manta, and Apoi), as well as rules for Arena format, the first of three of our different modes of gameplay. We’re unbelievably excited to finally get our game into your hands, and we hope you enjoy this first taste of our hard work. We also hope to hear feedback from all of you giving the game a try - we have included QR codes to scan on the print-outs that give you easy access to the online feedback forms, as well as QR codes to both our Bluesky and Discord. We’ve left the art frames blank on the demo cards and would love to see your creativity in showing us what you think their abilities look like!
If you live near the Hillsboro, Oregon area, we’ll also be hosting a Demo Day at Rune & Board for the game, and if you fill out the online feedback form after playing, you’ll receive a Colony poster of your choice - ALL FOR FREE! We have a sign-up form if you’re interested, and we hope to see you there if you’re able! Muir will be there along with the hand-crafted miniatures, nicely printed demo cards, and the insane gameboard he made for the trailer, which you might just be able to play with!
In the meantime, while the official rules guide we’ve put together will be more in-depth than our Gameplay Demo video, we’d highly recommend you give the video some study before the demo drops, as it’s still a great way to get familiarized with the basic mechanics and gameplay loop of our game!
We hope you all have fun, and play well!
Live Streams
We had the wonderful opportunity this year to showcase on the 810NICLE Day broadcast earlier this month through our own community-oriented showcase, Beyond BIONICLE, where we get the pleasure of showing off non-BIONICLE related projects from around the BIONICLE community! This year, we were excited to welcome back Lei Hart with their project Robotrio, and welcomed two newcomers to the showcase, the Afterman Chronicles and the Mythseeker! Their work and dedication is enormous and spectacular, and we can’t recommend enough for you to go and look at their projects!
Before we send you off for the month, we’d also like to acknowledge that our dear friend and collaborator, Matt Griffith, is going back to school to pursue a degree in art education! As such, we won’t be seeing as much new work of his around here for the time being, but rest assured, he will return to help us continue with this wondrous, magical world. We wish him nothing but the very best, and can’t wait to hear about his new adventures in academia!
And that is it for this month! We thank you so much once more for your dedicated patronage, and we hope that you enjoy the demo. Please stay safe out there in this crazy world, and we’ll see you next month.
Cheers,
Isaac Muir
